In 2007, the film Entre les murs was shot in my street, on the border of the 19th and 20th districts of Paris. The young actors were from a local “priority education zone” middle school where the children of the “bobos” mingled with those from the local housing projects. I shared this experience with them: I filmed them in the workshops where they prepared for the film, followed them during shooting where I was script supervisor, and was with them when we went to Cannes. This shared adventure forged long lasting ties and friendships between us.

At the time, they were 13 and 14 years old and our paths separated just before they left middle school. They came from different socio-cultural backgrounds and had different levels of academic achievement. What has become of them almost 10 years later? Did this experience transform the image they had of themselves? Did it influence their desires and their vision of the future?
