In this documentary film, which is loosely based on the famous book by Canadian writer, Timothy Brook, Vermeer’s Hat, we offer a new way of understanding the global world we live in thanks to… a 17th-century painting. A simple, apparently anecdotal painting, far from being one of the Dutch painter’s most famous, entitled Officer and Laughing Girl painted in 1650. A charming scene in which an officer, wearing a wide-brimmed hat, talks with a young woman who is holding a glass of wine in her hand. The scene is set in one of the household interiors of which Vermeer was so fond.
