Gluck’s opera Orpheus and Eurydice opens the festival in the unusual setting of Halle 47. In this immense corridor of metal and concrete, listening, sensations and emotions are enhanced tenfold. Essentially a choral work, Orpheus and Eurydice seems perfectly suited to the grandeur and magnificence of this unique venue. A space of ghosts and traces of past lives, it reveals raw materials that reconnect us with the archaism of the Orpheus myth. In this Dantesque space, ideal for infernal frescoes, the immemorial story of pain, loss and heartbreak is bound to find an echo chamber worthy of its greatness.

In a hybrid format – between an immersive show and a performance in a new setting – this 100% Pygmalion production aims to recapture the tragic grandeur of the myth while renewing its approach.
