On June 30, 1946, the first atomic bomb of the post-war period exploded on the BIKINI atoll in the South Pacific. Eighteen days later in Paris, Louis Reard patented the name ´BIKINI´ as a brand name for a miniscule two-piece set to be worn by women. This piece of clothing radically changed beachwear and caused uproar for all types of people determined to ´uphold morals´. The story of the bikini is not so much the story of a piece of clothing, but rather the evolution of modern-day morals. The film is made up from archive footage from around the world.
