Known as ‘‘the lady of the sea’’, Anita Conti was a true adventurer in the early days of oceanography, a pioneer who, in the early 30s, brought attention to the problem of overfishing and initiated the idea of sustainable development. Anita Conti was also a journalist, photographer, writer and… a bookbinder! This film, through abundant and rich archival footage, introduces us to her struggle, nowadays more relevant than ever, but also to the extraordinary destiny of one of the first ecological whistleblowers of the 20th century.
