On October 14th, 1990, before a US Congress commission, a 15-year-old adolescent girl, Nayirah al-Sabah, gives a chilling testimony of the atrocities committed in a Kuwaiti hospital by Saddam Hussein’s Iraqi troops. “… They shot at the babies in the incubators; they picked them up from the incubators and left them to die on the cold floor”. Televisions around the world broadcast the speech, provoking a wave of indignation within public opinion, both American and international. On January 17th, 1991, international forces, under pressure from the Bush Sr. administration, launch operation Desert Storm. It’s the First Gulf War. 88 500 tons of bombs are dropped on Iraq. Kuwait is saved… especially its oil wells… For this war was finally declared on the grounds of a lie. Nayirah’s testimony is fake. The incubators scene never took place. The lie was built from scratch by communication agencies financed by the US Government and Kuwait.
