Making a film about African wrestling, in Senegal, through the destiny of Tapha Gueye, its biggest champion, is a completely new project. It is the first time a champion of this stature has accepted to uncover all the facets of a practice which has been secret for centuries. Tapha Gueye is the actor in his own life, the main actor in a classical tragedy where his brothers, his mother, marabouts, fetish-priests, young supporters, old wrestlers, female admirers and griots make up the Choir. These people pass on the oral legend of Tapha Gueye, and are forever expounding their comments and explanations about the hero´s actions. Everything is real in this film, and everything also seems to have been written into a plot for a fiction. It is what is at stake in this film & giving people the opportunity to discover a totally unknown sport via its biggest fight.
